Neumann/Sennheiser Hybrid Mics Steal the Show at Hall of Fame Ceremony

New York City--Five of the new Neumann/Sennheiser hybrid wireless mic (KMS105 capsule and Sennheiser 5000 wireless transmitter) were used on the internationally televised VH1 broadcast of the 2002 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Held at New York City's Waldorf Astoria Hotel on March 18, 2002, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation honors inductees at its annual ceremony. This year's "performer" inductees included Isaac Hayes, Brenda Lee, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Gene Pitney, Ramones and Talking Heads. The "non-performer" inductee was Jim Stewart. The "sidemen" inductee was Chet Atkins.

Kevin Sanford of Wireless First handled all of the RF wireless microphone and wireless intercom systems. Effanel Music, the remote recording company both recorded the program and mixed the broadcast while Bryan Olson, Firehouse Productions, supplied the live sound system.

With only a few prototypes available, Sanford received the five nickel-plated capsules and transmitters directly from John Falcone, president and CEO of Sennheiser USA. After a quick "look-see" at Saturday Night Live, Sanford took the mics to the Hall of Fame awards show. "The mics performed beautifully," commented Sanford. "How can you go wrong with a Neumann capsule and Sennheiser 5000 transmitter? This combo is something I've been talking about for some time."
