Sanford Selects Sennheiser & Neumann Wireless For
NBC's "Concert For America" WASHINGTON,
D.C.: On the first anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Americans everywhere
paused to remember. For millions, the music, drama and pageantry of NBC-TV's "Concert
for America 2002" was an uplifting respite in a day filled with crowded public
events, intimate memorial services and infinite moments of personal contemplation.
The program, aired from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
in Washington, D.C., featured the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard
Slatkin, along with artists including Placido Domingo, Al Green, Alan Jackson,
Enrique Iglesias, Renee Fleming, Chris Isaak and India Arie, among others. In
addition, appearances by former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Senator
Edward Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy, and dramatic readings by Angela Bassett and
James Earl Jones - as well as the voices of everyday Americans - helped evoke
the spirit of unity and freedom for viewers across the nation. The event was hosted
by NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw, with President and Mrs. Bush also in attendance.
As the stars captivated the stage a collection of Sennheiser and Neumann
wireless microphones either starred or shared the billing in just about every
live performance. Once again, RF specialist, Kevin Sanford, of Wireless First
coordinated the wireless systems. Sanford spent four days at the Kennedy Center
during the taping of the concert with his rack of EM 3000 transmitters, sixteen
of the new Neumann KK 105-S capsules and six 5005 handheld microphones with SK
50 bodypacks. "In my opinion, Sennheiser makes the best RF equipment, both in
terms of sound and wireless reliability, commented Sanford. "'Concert for America'
demanded the very best wireless available so that we simply wouldn't have to worry
about vocal intelligibility, frequency limitations, or dropouts." Neumann's
award winning line of microphones has set the standard in the industry since 1928.
In 1999, Neumann received the prestigious Technical Grammy(r) for their 70 years
of innovation in microphone design and contribution to the music industry. A continuing
commitment to provide innovative, technically refined products and engineering
solutions of proven quality ensures that Neumann's stature will remain unassailable.
