VCOM runs on standard computer and network hardware and is based on a dedicated server, multiple client architecture. In addition, VCOM bridges disparate intercom and voice communications systems for use with hardware based ProCom systems, two-way radios, and public/private telephone networks. The VCOM Control Panel emulates the functionality of ProCom control consoles (see Application Example). Used on dedicated PC’s or wireless Handheld devices they provide basic point-and-click control for establishing talk and/or listen voice paths. Multiple group and individual voice paths can be established simultaneously and multiple conferences can be accommodated in any complexity.VCOM readily scales to hundreds of users, is built on a highly flexible platform, and coincides with a broad movement within industry and government to use widely deployed IP infrastructures and commercially available computer hardware.

World Class Events such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics Summer Games are years in the making requiring hundreds of creative and planning meetings leading up to rehearsals a few weeks prior. Assembling all team members at the venue prior to the Games is not practical, especially as many involved work multiple shows. Over a traditional telephone conference, VCOM would afford team leaders instantaneous access to team members with no dialing or number searching and the power to manage simultaneous communications with multiple separate work groups while maintaining privacy between individual groups. In addition, individual groups may be joined together further enhancing flexibility.

Riedel Artist Digital Matrix Intercom System:

The system features a distributed matrix architecture and consists of one or multiple matrix frames (nodes) which are interconnected by a dual fiber optic ring. The maximum distance between two nodes can be up to 500 metres as standard, and optionally up to 10km. The capacity of the redundant fiber optic network is 1.000 Mbit/s with the matrix frames serving as network nodes to form a single large, distributed matrix.

As a result the matrix frames can be located next to the intercom stations (i.e. of a specific studio or production facility) saving a considerable amount of wiring and installation costs. The new Riedel System was used for the 2006 NBA All-Star Game, 2005 Tree Lighting in New York and the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards, to name a few. Please call for more information.
